นอกจากการเปิดตัวเครื่องเกมพกพารุ่นปรับโฉมใหม่ โซนี่ระบุอีกด้วยว่า ได้ทำการลดราคาชุดพัฒนาบนเครื่อง PSP ลง 80 เปอร์เซนต์ ล่าสุด "Al De Leon" ผู้จัดการฝ่ายประชาสัมพันธ์ของโซนี่ ได้ให้สัมภาษณ์กับ CNET ยืนยันว่าหนึ่งในเหตุผลที่ลดราคาชุดพัฒนา เนื่องจากว่าต้องการให้เหล่านักพัฒนาหลายๆคนเข้ามามีส่วนร่วม โดยไม่อยากให้คิดว่าจะต้องเป็นการพัฒนาเพียงเฉพาะวิดีโอเกมเท่านั้น
