Installing iPod Shuffle 1st Generation
As the name implies, the iPod shuffle is designed for use in "shuffle songs" mode and Apple's "AutoFill" feature within iTunes which selects the correct number of songs to include on the iPod shuffle either as directed by the user or at random. For navigation, the iPod shuffle uses a simple control pad on the front and a "slider" on the back.
The iPod shuffle is designed to plug directly into a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port, but can also be used with an optional dock. It uses "solid state" Flash Memory, and as a result, cannot skip, and can hold approximately 120 or 240 songs (on the 512 MB and 1.0 GB versions respectively), as well as other file types for transport to another computer.
At the same time, Apple introduced a number of compatible accessories to compliment the provided lanyard, including a waterproof case and an arm band to hold the system during activities.
